Recipes
These recipes are my family’s favourites which they enjoy and request for repeatedly. They are fail proof and repeatable by anyone with minimal cooking skill.
Pad Thai - sweet, sour, salty & hot!
Pad Thai is a quick stir fry of rice noodles with sweet, sour, salty and chilli hot seasoning, chives & bean sprouts and crushed peanuts.
Chilli Prawn Noodle
I love the creamy texture and the tangy sweet & hot taste of the gravy. This goes well with any seafood.
Roast Pork with Tofu (火腩炆豆腐)
With slow cooking over a low heat, the meat becomes super tender and the skin achieves a soft, spongy texture that is really yummy. The gravy is flavoursome and the tofu absorb all that delicious roast pork flavour.
Assam Laksa (亚参叻沙) - spicy & tangy
Assam Laksa has an unique taste, quite different from the popular laksa that has a sweet coconut milk base. The gravy of Assam Laksa is tangy and made with tamarind (assam) and fish stock.
Beef in Black Pepper Sauce
The lamb is served sizzling in a hot plate and black pepper sauce is poured on.
Rice Porridge - Comfort Food
I enjoy that slightly gooey but silky smooth texture. It goes well with almost any savoury foodstuff.
Mee Goreng (Mamak Fried Noodles)
It's a version of fried noodles using tomato ketchup as the main ingredient that distinguishes it from other local versions of fried noodles.
Stewed Pork with Mui Choy (梅菜焖猪肉)
Stewed Pork with Mui Choy is a very simple dish to cook but needs cooking time (1.5 hours) to ensure the pork is tender.
Chicken Pie - creamy centre in a buttery flaky crust
I like a pie that has a creamy centre and a crispy crust. This recipe has a buttery flaky crust - perhaps a little too rich - as the filling is creamy.
Blueberry Pie - Delicious !
The aroma of buttery crust is irresistible and the filling is sweet yet tart,
Saucy Pork with Fried Potato
I love that sweet, hot and sour sauce and the potato with the crispy exterior and soft centre.
Kale Chips - Easy !
I found that it is really easy to make and I was amazed how crispy and flavoursome these chips are.
Shanghai Fried Noodles (上海粗炒)
The main distinguishing feature of Shanghai fried noodles is the use of Hoisin sauce that gives it its unique flavour. They are usually stirred fried with beef strips and cabbage.
Bubur Cha Cha
Bubur Cha Cha is a colourful combination of sweet potato and yam in thick and sweet coconut milk. Bubur Cha Cha can be served hot or cold.
Baked Crispy Chicken
The baked crispy chicken turned out nice and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside - finger licking good.
Steamed Chinese Sponge Cake
It’s light & spongy with only a hint of butter. It is not a rich cake,
