Recipes
These recipes are my family’s favourites which they enjoy and request for repeatedly. They are fail proof and repeatable by anyone with minimal cooking skill.
Teriyaki Salmon
I like it lightly fried. The sweet and savoury teriyaki sauce complements the fresh taste of salmon well.
Beef Rendang (Indonesian Style)
Beef Rendang has a unique & complex taste - spicy, piquant & appetising. The beef is super tender and flavoursome, having absorbed all the spices during the slow cooking process.
Crispy Salmon Skin
I use baking paper to get the crispiest skin without the skin furling up.
Spicy Dried Prawn aka Hay Bee Hiam
Dried prawns are rehydrated and processed till fine and belachan and chilli are added. I love that spicy prawny taste.
Steamed Glutinous Rice aka Lo Mai Gai (糯米鸡)
I decided against using bamboo leaves for my dumplings and use my rice cooker instead to steam the rice. I must say I am really happy with the result
Nonya Curry Chicken
Nonya curry has an unique taste, is rich, fragrant, slightly tangy and drier (thicker) than the traditional curry.
Char Siew Bao aka Barbecue Pork Bun (叉燒包)
The bun (bao) has a fluffy bread like texture with a savoury-sweet, flavoursome & saucy pork filling (char siew).
Blueberry Tart
Making blueberry sauce is a quick and easy task - takes no more than 10 mins. And it is delicious when combined with a crispy buttery tart pastry.
Belly Pork Steamed with Preserved Vegetable aka Mui Choy Kau Yoke (梅菜扣肉)
Mui Choy Kau Yoke (Blly PorkSteamed with Preserved Vegetable)
Rogan Josh Lamb Curry
This curry is extremely aromatic. The lamb meat is flavoursome and tender. The curry gravy is rich and robust.
Lamb & Vegetable Pie
It's meaty, flavoursome with lots and lots of gravy - just the way I like my pie.
Fried Maifun with Pork & Mushroom Strips (肉絲米粉)
Maifun is Cantonese for thin rice noodles or vermicelli. Fried Maifun is a quick dish to prepare - takes 5-10 minutes to cook.
Tonkotsu Char Siew Ramen
I made my tonkotsu stock not only with pork bones and chicken bones but also added some dried prawns and a small piece of bacon.
Roast Chicken Wings with Satay flavour
The juiciness of the chicken wings and the aromatic delicious satay spice made this dish a success.
Fried Rice
The basic ingredients are cooked rice and eggs and you can add any other ingredients you may have on hand.
Chilli Sand Crab with Angel Hair Pasta
The slippery smooth texture of angel hair pasta goes really well with the piquant chilli egg sauce and sweet crab meat.
Jerk Chicken
Jerk is a style of cooking native to Jamaica. Jerk seasoning principally relies upon two ingredients: allspice (dried unripe fruit of Pimenta dioica plant) and Scotch bonnet peppers (extra hot chilli).
